EDUCATION AND TRAINING

1982-83 Collaborated in the area of design and decoration with Isabel Verde, art professor and founder of   the School of fine arts, Maputo-Mozambique.

1986-92 Student school of Visual Art , Maputo-Mozambique, completed height level graphics course,

graduated student of honour.

1992 Collaborated with international artist, Victor Sousa in Maputo-Mozambique.

1993 Participated in an illustration course for children's books, cartoons, taught by Brazilian artist,Zirald Pinto

1997 Participated in a workshop and study visit in Johannesburg and Cape Town , South Africa.

1999- 01 NVQ Level and II Playwork.

2003- 05 Printmaking course .

2006 Design for Print & the Internet course.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
 

1986 Participated in a radio programme open scene for radio Mozambique Maputo.

1993 Participated in Education for peace program, the Circle of     Peace, a UNICEF program for children traumatised by war Maputo Mozambique.

1995 Art Teacher for children aged between 4-10 painting and design in children's workshop, Maputo- Mozambique .

1995 Type setter and graphic design for Savana Newspaper, Maputo-Mozambique.

1995-97 Sales assistant: Ugubu Gallery, Maputo-Mozambique.

1987-88 Art Teacher Verney School, teaching the Portuguese Visual Education Curriculum to children aged between 7- 17.Elements included painting, design and ceramics, Maputo-Mozambique. Art teacher for children aged     between 5-9, Infant's     Pre-School     Maputo-Mozambique. Special Needs art Teacher for children with learning difficulties aged 6-12 Mazola- Mozambique .

Currently Phiri is developing a very distinctive style using Printmaking Techniques such as: Collage Blocks Linocut, Lithography, Dry point, Monoprint, woodcut, Intaglio printing, and Etching.
